Salinity of a solution is measured by measurements
of chlorinity, reflectivity or specific gravity.
Measurement of chlorinity : the volume of chlorine
in the seawater is measured by citrating the seawater
with silver chloride and then measure the total salinity
by converting it into the ratio to other element.
Measurement of conductivity : the electrical conductivity
varies depending on the volume of chlorine in the seawater

- Reflectivity : measured by the principle that the
light is refracted differently depending on the volume
of chlorine in the seawater. Similar principle and
shape to sugar content meter.
- Hydrometer : measured by the principle that the
density of the seawater varies depending on the chloride
in the seawater. Most cheap and easy method, but the
accuracy is relatively low compared with other apparatus
and temperature compensation is needed.
Measurement of conductivity is calculated by measuring
the resistance which is the ion-carrying capacity
of an electrolytic solution in the electrical field
between the two electrodes put in the electrolytic
solution to induce current.

and RS232 serial interface.
