The Marine Digital Barometer, the instrument forms
part of the marine meteorological system designed and built at AGI.
The system comprises of a number of dedicated environmental sensors (customer specific), connected together and monitored via a microprocessor controlled electronic hub, the Meteorological Interface Unit (M.I.U.).
The MIU takes information (serial electronic data) from a ¡®customer specific¡¯ set of meteorological sensors. This information is collated and distributed in a variety of customer configurable data formats. i.e. for the display on AGI¡¯s range of digital repeaters , or distribution for a ships fire control system.

Digital barometer consist of Air Pressure Sensor, Meteorogical Interface Unit(MIU) and LCD or Multi Function Colour Repeater (MFCR).
A 10-pin MIL-C-26482 connector shell size having 21 size 16 contacts, is fitted to the sensor. The connector shell is bonded for RF to the sensor body.
Maximum cable length between MIU and sensor is 250m.
The output is provided to the Meteorogical Interface Unit for processing and distribution to repeater, display and other system users.

Air Pressure Sensor
The Barometric Pressure Sensor is accurate, self contained instrument for measuring atmospheric pressure. The sensor is mounted within the ship for protection. For sealed ships with an "NBC" capability, the sensor may be vented to atmosphere using appropriate piping

MIU
This specification defines the commercial AGI Meteorological Interface Unit(MIU) for processing and retransmission of pressure sensor and other optional sensor data to repeaters and other ship users of the data.

LCD Multifunction Repeater
The data is displayed in analogue and digital formats. This is presented on high reliability, transflective liquid crystal displays with red backlighting, the level of which may be dimmed to ensure maximum readability in a wide range of ambient lighting conditions. The repeaters are therefore suitable for use in situations ranging from direct sunlight to night-time bridge wing applications.
